Intro: McCaskill issues audit of Department of Higher Education.
Hillari Duthoo (DOO-thoh) has the story from the state Capitol. State Auditor Claire McCaskill says the cost of going to public college in the state of Missouri is too high.
The audit her office issued states that while Missouri's average tuition increase was the lowest among the Big 12 states in the last three years, the average amount charged was the highest, at $5,829.
McCaskill says 2004 was the turning point and a sad year for Missouri students.
