Missourians protest Medicaid cuts at the state Capitol.

Hundreds of protestors flooded the Capitol to protest healthcare cuts for lower-income Missourians. Jade Mingus has more from the state Capitol.

Missourians chanted their opposition to Blunt's proposed Medicaid cuts.

Among the protestors was a woman from St. Louis County...Lucy White.

White said Missouri healthcare should be about compassion.

"Medicaid is..you just can't cut it. There's some people that won't survive without Medicaid."

Republican Representative Charles Portwood says the cuts in Medicaid are a compassionate response to the state's budget problems. Portwood says without Medicaid reform Missouri would be unable to provide healthcare assistance to those who need it.

Families and religious leaders rallied at the state Capitol to voice their opposition to Medicaid cuts.

A St. Louis County woman....Lucy White.. was among the protestors and she says if she could speak with Governor Matt Blunt she would tell him to consider the cuts' effects.

Republican Representative Charles Portwood says the cuts are a compassionate response.

Portwood says without the cuts Missouri would not be able to provide healthcare assistance for anyone.
