Senator Jason Crowell, a Republican from Cape Girardeau, says if the Morning After Pill became available over the counter people may use it instead of condoms.
Crowell says he will introduce legislation to keep the Morning After Pill a prescription drug.

One state Senator says pharmacists should have a choice when deciding whether or not to fill some contraceptive prescriptions.
Tim Walker has more from Jefferson City.
Senator Jason Crowell, a Republican from Cape Girardeau, plans to propose legislation that would allow pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for any drug they feel induces an abortion, such as the Morning After Pill.
But Crowell says he is not trying to reduce the number of abortions, but give pharmacists options.
Crowell also plans to propose legislation that would give tax credits to facilities that promote abortion alternatives.

Crowell says people need to understand what they are taking.
The FDA is considering whether or not to start offering the drug over the counter.

But Paula Gianino, President of Planned Parenthood in St. Louis, says she thinks Crowell is out of step with women's needs.
The Morning After Pill is currently available only as a prescription.
