Governor Blunt nominated a Public Safety Director.
Andrea Ramey has more from the state Capitol.
Blunt's nominee, Mark James is currently in charge of the Kansas City division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Blunt says he is confident James' previous experience will prepare him for the job.
"Within the ATF, Mark James was involved in overhauling their intelligence, that function which is clearly something we can work on here in our state Department of Public Safety."
James will assume the role of director after confimation from the Senate.
As Director, James will adminster federal and state funds for law enforcement, narcotics control, and victims' assistance.
From the state Capitol, I'm Andrea Ramey.

Gov. Blunt fulfilled one of his campaign promises by appointing a deputy to oversee Homeland Security within Missouri.
Andrea Ramey has more from the state Capitol.
Michael Chapman will serve as Deputy of Homeland Security, in Missouri, a post directly under the Director of Public Safety.
Chapman's appointment will merge the office of Homeland Security with the Deparment of Public Safety, something Governor Blunt promised during his campaign.
"I believe that public safety and Homeland Security are interrelated. It very well could be traditional law enforcement practices and techniques that stop a Homeland security instance from occuring within Missouri's borders."
Chapman previously worked for the national Homeland Security Department by managing Department of Defense activities.
On of his main priorities includes finding ways to combine resources. From the state Capitol, I'm Andrea Ramey.
