The Missouri Senate has passed a bill that would allow parents to sue anyone helping their pregnant daughter get an abortion without their consent.
Doctors would only be able to perform abortions within thirty miles of a a hospital at which they can operate.
Bill sponsor Saint Louis County Republican Senator John Loudon says the bill increases safety.
The bill would also prohibit spending public money to directly fund abortion services, or facilities counseling abortion as an option.
Opponents to the bill say it is an attempt to end abortion services in Missouri, and prevents victims of incest from safely getting an abortion.
The bill passed by a large majority, including several Democrats.

Democratic Saint Louis Senator Joan Bray says the bill hurts women.
The bill would also prohibit the spending of public money to directly fund abortion services, or facilities counseling abortions as an option.
Doctors would also only be able to perform abortions within thirty miles of a hospital at which they have privileges.
The bill passed by a wide margin, with several Democrats voting for it.
