University issues are a hot topic in the state legislature this session...but the debate isn't over. Rachel Schaff tells about a merger officials now face at Northwest Missouri State University.
The state senator whose district includes Maryville -- the home of Northwest Missouri State University -- says a merger between the school and the U-M System would give students a better college experience.
Senator David Klindt says the proposal would give students more access to research facilities and technology.
"Many people and myself believe that this will be a good balance for higher education in Northwest Missouri if the merger takes place."
It's not just a hypothetical issue for Missouri's legislature. If the two schools reach a consolidation agreement, the legislautre has to agree for it to take effect. From the state capital, I'm Rachel Schaff.
