The Missouri Insurance Coaltion's executive director Calvin Call says--right now--only one company exists to represent doctors in malpractice suits.
He says financial concerns are the reason for a lack of similar companies in the state.
"Competition has either left the state or gone out of business mainly because any oppourtunity to underwrite and make a profit in the business is long since gone...the system is broken in Missouri."
The Missouri Physicians Mutual Insurance Company Act will insure doctors who have trouble finding a lawyer to accept their case.
