A new bill sponsored by a St. Louis lawmaker to expand the definition of identity theft exempts what some might still consider a crime. Lindsay Shively (shive-lee) has the story.
Sen. Maida Coleman, a Democrat from St. Louis City, is sponsoring a bill that would redefine identification theft.
That definition surprisingly excludes situations such as using someone else's identification to purchase alcohol.
Coleman says the focus of these purchases is not identity.
Coleman says her reason for sponsoring the legislation is to protect potential victims. From the State Capitol, I'm Lindsay Shively.
