Election bill goes to governor

JEFFERSON CITY - The bill that would bring Missouri law into compliance with new federal voting requirements was sent to the governor Monday.

The federal requirements were changed after the Florida's election debacle in 2000.

The bill would eliminate punch card ballots and create a centralized, statewide voter database.

With the measures in effect, the state could receive up to $76 million in federal money over the next four years.
