Alcohol Involvment in 1998 Traffic Fatalities

In 1998 there were a total of 194,984 accidents. Of these, 4.7% (or 8,608 accidents) involved a driver for whom an alcohol level (BAC) was detected. There were also 1,169 fatalities resulting from traffic accidents. Of these, 23.9% (or 274 fatalities) involved a driver for whom an alcohol level was detected.
