One lawmaker would like to give Missouri voters a chance to extend the gas tax.
Kurt Silver has the story from Jefferson City.
Republican Rep. David Klindt proposed an amendment to Missouri's Constitution repealing a six-cent gas tax.
According to Klindt, the tax, which expires in 2008, would be replaced by a new six-cent gas tax.
Money from the new tax would be dedicated to the 15-year highway plan.
Klindt also says the proposed tax would expire in 2015.The committee took no immediate action on the bill.
