Senator proposes bill that will lower the legal maximum BAC level

State Capital Bureau Even with public support, lawmakers have taken their time to approve a bill to lower the maximum legal blood alcohol content. Princess Reyes has this report from Jefferson City.

Sen. Morris Westfall presented his bill to a Senate committee again today that would lower the maximum legal blood alcohol content from .1 to .08 percent, while the idea has gotten a lot of national attention. State lawmakers have been slow to embrace the idea.

Contents: Westfall says lawmakers fear that setting the maximum legal blood alcohol content at .08 will punish drivers who have not consumed too many drinks. Westfall argues that those who consume more than four drinks per hour are not social drinkers and should not be on the road.
