Voter approval would be required for any government funds to be used to build a new stadium for the baseball Cardinals -=- or any other sports stadium in Missouri.
Naomi Smith has more from Jefferson City.
The voter-approval amendment was stuck onto a bill that would create a commission to study professional sports in the St. Louis area.
Amendment sponsor St. Louis County Senator Wayne Goode.
Under the bill a commission would study possibilities for future sports expansion in the St. Louis area.
But it would be up to voters to decide whether to fund any sports stadium in Missouri.
The bill needs one more procedural vote before heading to the House.
From the state capital, I'm Naomi Smith.
