Kids wouldn't be able to jump in the back of the family pick-up truck without being strapped down under a bill that was approved by Missouri House of Representatives.

Renee Basick has the details from Jefferson City.

Under the proposed legislation passed by the House, children under the age of eighteen could not be in an open truck bed, unless they can be restrained.

Representative Deleta Williams, a Warrensburg Democrat, sponsored the bill.

She says this bill is necessary because of the popularity of pick-up trucks.

The bill will also require seat belt use in smaller trucks.

For those of you who use your truck for farm chores, you won't be affected if this bill becomes law.

Agricultrual work is exempt.
