Missouri Senate Passes Tougher Driver's Insurance Requirements

State Capital Bureau You'll have another ticket to talk your way out of if you're pulled over and can't show an insurance card under a bill passed by Missouri senate.

Renee Basick has the details from Jefferson City.

Proposed law approved by State Senate will make it a crime to drive without an insurance i.d. card.

The bill allows police to issue a ticket if a driver cannot prove that they have coverage.

The possible legislation is sponsored by St. Louis Senator Jet Banks.

He says there are a large number of people driving without any coverage.

Contents: Right now you can walk into a office and say you have insurance without nay proof at all, this law will curtail that.

Missouri drivers will also be required to show proof of insurance every year when they renew their vehicle registration, if the bill is passed into law.
