Now, there's one independent in the Missouri House of Representatives. But many are wondering whether or not he will remain independent. Mary Jackson has the story from Jefferson City.
Representative Denny Meredith made history by becoming the first independent from the "bootheel" district elected to the General Assembly.
The district has never elected anyone other than a Democrat.
Because Meredith is conservative, Republicans expect him to vote with them most of the time.
According to Meredith, he's not leaning towards either side.
Currently, there are 87 Democrats, 75 Republicans and now 1 independent in the House.
From Jefferson City, I'm Mary Jackson.
