Commission recommends pay hikes for state lawmakers.

A state commission on state salaries has recommended a package of pay hikes for state officials that would total about $8 million per year.

Under the commission's recommendations, legislative salaries would rise from $26,803 to $32,500 and rise again to $35,000 in July 1988.

The commission's recommendations automatically take effect unless rejected by Missouri's legislature before February.


Water riders under wrath of Missouri's attorney general.

Missouri's attorney general announced he plans to file suit against a campground in southern Missouri with he alleges has allowed users to violate state and federal stream-protection laws.

According to Jay Nixon, Parks Bluff Campground has encouraged patrons to drive their off-road vehicles onto protected streams including the Black River.


Inauguration platform constructed weeks ahead of time.

Weeks before the January inauguration, workmen have completed construction of the inuguration platform outside Missouri's Capitol.

At the same time, work is nearing completion on security protection for the building to give police the ability to block suspicious vehicles from getting near the building.

Automaker agreement reached by state.

Missouri's Attorney General announced that Missouri is part of a 23-state agreement with several automakers concerning auto leases.

As part of the agreement, the auto makers will be required to clearly disclose the total cost of an auto lease agreement.
