Senate Okays Immunization Bill

Members of the Missouri Senate have approved a bill that would make it easier and more affordable to immunize kids. Kelly Just has the story from Jefferson City.

Senators have approved a House bill that requires all health insurance policies and H-M-O's to cover the cost of immunizing children under the age of five.

Kansas City Senator, Ed Quick says the bill will help improve Missouri's poor track record on immunization...the state currently sits at 49th place in the nation.

Quick says it's taken lawmakers a long time to deal with this issue because they didn't want to step on people's toes.

Senate did make three changes to the bill, but House Sponsor, Scott Lakin (Lay-kin) says he doubts representatives will object to the amendments and risk killing the measure.
