We Are
MoStuGov is a pilot project produced by Missouri Digital News with assistance from both the Missouri Broadcasters Association and the Missouri Press Assocation. The service is designed
to provide high school students with an understanding of the issues
before Missouri state government that affect youth. In any given year,
Missouri's state government handles a large variety of matters that
directly affect the lives of Missouri's high school students.
In 2006
those issues include restrictions on teenage driving licenses,
requiring schools to adopt policies against bullying, lowering the
minimum age to serve on juries, restricting video game sales to minors
and prohibiting soda vending machines in schools.
Our goal is to provide information, ideas and contacts that high school journalists can use to provide local stories for their readers about such issues. Ultimately, we hope MoStu Gov will empower students to become more involved in their state government.
