HB 28 Sponsor:Stacy, Dan Status: H Elections Description: Require voting be by ranked choice for local elections. If no candidate gets a majority of the first-choice votes, continue a process by eliminating the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes until someone gets a majority. If that does not produce someone with the resulting majority, use another process of ranked choices to select a winner. In 2017 a similar bill (HB 856) was reported out "Do Not Pass" by the H Elections Committee. After three days without a motion, under House rules the bill was tabled.
