2020 Bill(s)

* HB 1895
Sponsor: Falkner, Bill
Status: H Ways & Means
Description: Impose a tax on sales to Missourians by out-of-state sellers, if the gross receipts of the seller exceeds $100,000 in a year or there are 200 or more separate transactions. Legislative staff estimate it would increase state General Revenue funds from $74 million to $110 million in FY 2022. The governor has recommend that money go into a cash reserve fund. In the Wayfair decision, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of a state to tax sales from seller outside the state.

  • Note: The descriptions of bills, amendments and roll-call votes are written by MDN journalists. MDN's database may not include committee assignments of bills made on the last day of the session since it is too late for the committee to act on the bill and, thus, the delayed assignment has no practical effect.
