Description: Effectively restore caps on non-economic awards in medical malpractice cases. Technically, it would repeal a common law right to sue a health care provider for damages or for failing to render care. The Supreme Court recently struck down a legislation that had limited non-economic damage awards in medical malpractice lawsuits based on common law. The House speaker is a co-sponsor.
