Cole County Republican Jay Barnes sponsored the bill, stating that any appointment by the governor should be held to the higher standard of state employees.

Description: "Ethics, Mr. Speaker, starts in the governor's mansion. This bill, as a whole, adds gubernatorial task force members to the list of public officials covered by our state statutes that prohibit self-dealing."

The bill was created in response to the stadium task force, which may cost taxpayers a total of more than 16-million dollars.
