Wrap: A 40 million dollar renovation project is underway at the Capitol. A study conducted in 2009 showed that the almost 100-year-old building needed to have some work done. Missouri State Capitol Commission chair Dana Miller says the commission was in full support of the renovation project.

Description: After that study was released, the commission, particularly in the last few years, we kinda made it our mission to highlight the need to move forward and seek the appropriation or in this case support the bonding bill that made the funding possible.

The repairs will include sealing and waterproofing the exterior of the building to ensure its stability. The multi-year project is expected to reach every level of the building.

Wrap: A major building renovation project is underway at the Capitol. The 40 million dollar project was appropriated during the 2015 legislative session to address water infiltration that has caused cracks and rusting. The Missouri State Capitol Commission chair Dana Miller says the commission has been in favor of these repairs for years.

Description: Something that we did in the commission I would say maybe helped get the support for the, general assembly support for the money that was set aside for this building in particular was we started doing a lot of behind the scenes tours and educating people literally from the ground up.

The project will take multiple years and is expected to extend the life of the Capitol building.

Description: I think they're assessing and looking right now and making those assessments on what needs to be done and what's critical. So you're going to be seeing people kinda crawling all over the building, maybe you already have, and examining. And then you'll see the, from there I think the scaffolding will just go up and I believe its the intent to do each elevation or side.

If successful, repairs like sealing and waterproofing the exterior of the building will ensure the stability of the building.
