Wrap: The Capitol building held a mock legislative session for more than 200 high school students.

Columbia Republican Senator Kurt Schaefer lead students in their debate over a bill to lower the voting age to 16. The debate is part of a project to teach students about the Constitution.

Schaefer says the debate by students in the mock session was impressive.

Actuality:  KURTC.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: They debated the bill, they did a fantastic job. Somebody offered an amendment to say that only emancipated 16 year olds could vote which spurred a lot more debate. They did a fantastic job of understanding the issue and being passionate about the subject matter. It was very impressive.

The project holds regional competitions throughout the fall, all leading up to a final competition at the Capitol in November.
