Missouri senator calls on the Department of Revenue to streamline the process for obtaining business licenses

The director of the Missouri Department of Revenue came under fire Thursday as members of the Senate Appropriation Committee said businesses had to wait too long for business licenses.

Wrap: The chair of the committee Senator Kurt Schaefer says businesses must wait weeks to obtain a license. 

And while they wait those businesses are unable to operate. 

Schaefer urged the Department of Revenue to make changes.

Description: I think the department needs to implement a program that is appropriate for a quick turn around time and just as Senator Kehoe said, you know even if they need to charge a premium for somebody that needs that license turned around faster that's an option. But not having the ability to get some of these licenses turned around faster, it is not acceptable and it is creating a very bad business climate.
  

The former director of the Department of Revenue says he doesn't know what the cost of speeding up the process would be.
