Missouri Supreme Court debates police privilege

Weeks after Ferguson protests, the Missouri Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday about a police officer's excessive use of force in 2012.

Wrap: St. Charles County Deputy Sheriff Christopher Hunt appealed to the Missouri Supreme Court after his assault, burglary and property damage conviction in 2012.

The excessive force charges came after an incident in 2009 when Hunt arrested a suspected meth dealer. 

Hunt's attorney Edward Robertson. said Hunt did not overstep his authority.

Description: "If the court decides that he was not a police officer at all, then he's guilty of every crime with which he was convicted. We don't dispute that, but we believe as a matter of law, he was a police officer."

But a state assistant attorney general said Hunt did not act lawfully, and the convictions should be upheld.
