Wrap: The bill passed in both the senate and house after extended debate.

It will require a 72 hour waiting period for a woman to get an abortion.

Hours before the vote, abortion-rights advocates gathered on the steps of the state Capitol to voice their concerns about the bill.

Cathy Collins chanted along with others who said they were standing up for women across Missouri.

Description: "I am really upset because I have granddaughters and to think that should one of them be raped and have to wait an extra 72 hours. It's their body and their right to do what they please with their body and here we are fighting this all over again."

Supporters of the bill said the wait period ensures responsible decisions.

Hours before the legislature voted, abortion-rights advocates held a rally to ask legislators to sustain the governor's veto.

Dianne Modrell came from St. Louis to voice her opinions.

Description: "Well I stand with Missouri women because I know they are decision makers at all levels and the legislature takes that for granted when we are left to our own personal, private decisions, and we don't need the legislature to intervne."

Supporters of the bill said the wait period ensures responsible decisions.
