Wrap: A House committee reviews a bill that gives Kansas an ultimatum.

The bill prohibits Missouri from giving tax credits to prevent job relocation from Kansas to Missouri.

Failure of Kansas to enact similar legislation within a year would result in Missouri spending $1.50 for every dollar Kansas spends.

However, Republican T.J. Berry said he prefers that the both governors from Missouri and Kansas sit down and talk to create a neutral zone.

No action has been taken on the bill.

During the International Trade and Job Creation hearing, lawmakers heard several testimonies in favor of a bill that will prohibit tax credits to prevent competition between Missouri and Kansas businesses.

However, Republican Representative John McCaherty said he would hate to see Missouri in a position where the state is required, by law, to continue to spend money.

There has been no action taken on this bill.

Wrap:  A bill to prevent job relocation between Missouri and Kansas means businesses have to stop giving tax credits as incentives.

Republican T.J. Berry sponsored a bill that prohibits tax credits as economic incentives, preventing jobs leaving from Kansas to Missouri.

However, if Kansas lawmakers fail to enact similar legislation within one year, the bill requires Missouri to spend $1.50 for every one dollar Kansas spends on giving businesses tax credits as incentives.

Berry wants Missouri and Kansas legislators to come to an agreement.
