Tuesday's start for candidate filing period was filled with uncertainty as the state districting map has not been finalized.

Wrap: St. Louis City Representative Jamilah Nasheed will not file as a candidate for the 5th senatorial district in St. Louis City before the map is finalized. The map currently draw her 200 feet outside of the district she is running in.

Nasheed planed to run against incumbent St. Louis Senator Robin Wright-Jones for the 2012 elections, and now can only wait.

Description: “I truly believe it’s a political decision by my opponent, to not allow me be in the race. However, I will still run, in the fifth senatorial district.”

St. Louis County Senator Jane Cunningham, whose district was eliminated in the new map, has filed in a Kansas City based district with her current district number under the new map.

Candidate filing is open until March 27. And the new Senate map could be finalized as soon as March 12.

Along with Lembke, St. Louis City Representative Jamilah Nasheed has also delayed her filing. Nasheed planed to run against incumbent St. Louis Senator Robin Wright-Jones for the 2012 elections.

The new Senate map could be finalized on March 12 at the next commission meeting, and candidate filing is open until March 27.

St. Louis County Senator Jim Lembke and St. Louis City Representative Jamilah Nasheed, who will run for the Senate this year, both did not file as candidates on the first day because of the questions about the map.

The Senate redistricting map could be finalized as soon as March 12, and candidate filing is open until March 27.
