Wrap: House Speaker Pro Tem Shane Schoeller introduced a package of election changes to Missouri's current redistricting methods and ballot measures.

It currently takes more than half of the legislature to override a ballot initiative.

But Schoeller's proposal will change that.

Actuality:  ELECT5.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: "Our proposal says that whatever the ballot referendum passed by, you would take that percentage and have to exceed it plus one in order to make any changes to the referendum that passed at the ballot.

Schoeller says he will file the bills in January at the start of the legislative session.

After the controversial dog breeding issue, one Republican representative introduced a package to make it harder for lawmakers to override voter passed laws and change ballot language.

Wrap: House Speaker Pro Tem Shane Schoeller introduced a package of election changes, including making it more difficult for lawmakers to overturn voter decisions in the future.

The package would also create a new citizens commission to prove ballot language, which is now written by the Secretary of state.

Schoeller says the new commission will ensure the language is fair and nonpartisan.

Actuality:  ELECT4.WAV
Run Time:  00:07
Description: "When they read the language it addresses the issue and not the political view points of whoever will be secretary of state at that time.”

Schoeller says he will file the bills in January at the start of the legislative session.
