Wrap: Under language presented to the House Budget Committee Governor Nixon would no longer be able to charge his travel expenses to other state agencies.

This comes after reports showed the governor charged about 400,000 dollars to other state agencies.

Democratic Representative Chris Kelly says the new language is sensible.

Run Time:  00:09
Description: I don't support all the political rhetoric about it, but the fact of the matter is the language makes the governor's travel transparent.

No one on the House Budge Committee opposed the measure.

The governor's office says it is too early in the budget process to comment.

Wrap: Governor Nixon would no longer be able to raid other state agencies to fund his travel expenses under a new bill measure presented at the House Budget Committee Monday.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans spoke out against the new language.

The governor's office says it is too early in the budget process to comment.

The House's top budget leader Ryan Silvey says when it comes to the travel budget the office is obstructive and lacks transparency.

Wrap: The House's top budget leader Ryan Silvey says the reports that show the governor has billed about 400,000 dollars to other departments are off.

He says the costs of operating a plane aren't taken into account.

Actuality:  SILVEY16.WAV
Run Time:  00:10
Description: Based on the governor's own spreadsheet that he provided us and the analysis of private air travel, we think that spreadsheet is really closer to 1.2 million.

The governor's office was asked about Silvey's comments but says it is too early in the budget process to comment.

New bill language was presented to the House Budget Committee that would stop the governor from charging his travel expenses to most state agencies.

Silvey says travel is necessary, but the governor spends too much.
