Wrap: Census results showed Missouri didn't grow as much as some other states.

Because of that, it's losing a seat in Congress.

Carnahan, a Democrat, says he respects the Constitutional process, even if it means he'll be out of the job.

Actuality:  CARNAH5.WAV
Run Time:  00:14
Description: There's a constitutional duty for legislators to work through the process and we've met as a delegation in Washington and just as we did ten years ago I think we'll fine some common ground to work together to get it done.

Carnahan has represented the third district since 2004.

Wrap: The St. Louis area representative's seat is in danger because Missouri hasn't grown as fast as other states.

Republicans in the state legislature will redraw the lines and squeeze out a district.

Carnahan says he respects that process.

Actuality:  CARNAH7.WAV
Run Time:  00:06
Description: "It's a process. It's an important one and looking forward to working with folks here again to get it done right."

Carnahan says he has been working with other lawmakers to find common ground on this issue.

Wrap:Missouri is losing a seat in Congress.

Now it's up to the state legislature to redraw the lines and figure out who will be out of the job.

M-U political science professor, Pervill Squire, says the Republican majority in the legislature may redistrict will likely squeeze out a Democrat.

Actuality:  CARNAH8.WAV
Run Time:  00:16
Description: Given the current political configuration in the state one of the Democratic seats is most at risk and given the population distributions, Carnahan is probably going to have a difficult task.

Squire also says all Carnahan can do now is hope to run in a district where he has a shot at winning.
