Wrap: AmerenUE withdrew its application to build a second nuclear power plant in Missouri after facing opposition last April.

The plant would have been built alongside the current Callaway County nuclear plant, which is responsible for generating 10 percent of the state's electricity according to the US Department of Energy.

According to spokesman Mike Cleary, there is no plan to resurrect this specific project.

Republican Senator Delbert Scott supported Ameren's bid last year and supports future nuclear opportunities for Missouri.
