Wrap: The Missouri House discussed a bill on Wednesday which proposed the prohibition of the purchase and consumption of fake pot.

There are currently no restrictions on the purchase of fake pot in the state.

Bill sponsor, West Plains Republican Representative Ward Franz said that lack of regulation on the substance poses a risk for the growing popularity among teens.

Wrap: In the House debate Wednesday, the penalty discussed for possession of fake pot could grant offenders anywhere from jail time to large fines.

Jackson County Democratic Representative Jason Holsman said non-violent offenders are already a high cost to taxpayers and the prohibition of fake pot will contribute to this problem.

He also said that making the drug illegal will have a ripple effect that may not necessarily be the best for society.

Description: "I think that anytime we continue to walk down this road of prohibition, we are creating a black market that introduces much more harmful effects to society, like the protection of that market."

Holsman said representatives of Missouri need to find a better way to take care of the issue, not the easy way.

Wrap: In a House debate Wednesday, legislators discussed a bill proposed to make the fake pot illegal.

With a potency three times stronger than that of marijuana, the increased use and potential side-effects of the drug is a cause of concern among representatives.

However, Jackson County Democratic Representative Jason Holsman said prohibition of the drug is not the solution.

Description: "I think that we should have family values and we should teach our children not to do drugs because they are bad for you, not because of fear incarceration."

Despite the issues surrounding fake pot, the bill has not yet been voted on.
