Wrap: During the first months of the 2010 mid-term elections, smear ads by both Democrat Robin Carnahan and Republican Roy Blunt have dominated air waves.

That message didn't change Thursday.

Actuality:  BLUNT3.WAV
Run Time:  00:07
Description: "I'm not going to vote for tax increases, even though you voted for tax increases during the first sixteen months of this campaign."

Actuality:  CARNA7.WAV
Run Time:  00:09
Description: "He's for corporate bailouts and I'm not. He's for wasteful ear-mark spending and I'm not. He's for privatizing social security, and I'm not."

Carnahan used much of her time to attacking Blunt's policies and Washington history--especially accusing him of taking money from lobbyists.

Blunt deflected her accusations, attacking instead President Barack Obama and what he saw as his "extremist" agenda.

From the State Capitol, I'm Scott Kanowsky, NewsRadio 1120 KMOX.

Intro:

Wrap: Standing before his Democratic counterpart at Kansas City's public television station Thursday, Roy Blunt heard a barage of accusations...

Everything from taking lobbyist donations to wasting tax-payer money.

But Blunt had a defense: attack President Barack Obama's policies.

Actuality:  BLUNT4.WAV
Run Time:  00:11
Description: "The marketplace works. It was heading in that direction, the Obama administration has headed us in another direction with fewer directions and less support for programs like Medicare."

Blunt went on to criticize the Obama administration for mishandling both the bail out failing financial giants and national security issues.
