Columbia's Chris Kelly is back chairing a budget committee. Molly Boland has more from Jefferson City.
Wrap: For the first time, Missouri will see three minority party members as committee chairs when the legislative session begins next month.
Thanks to the future speaker of the House Steven Tilley, Columbia's Chris Kelly is one of them.
|Description: I'm a Democrat. I'm gonna stay a Democrat. But, we also have a constitution to uphold and a budget to pass and I think it's my job, I think it would have been inappropriate and churlish to turn down the invitation from the speaker."|
Kelly's committee will write the budget for public safety and correction facilities.
Surprising both Republicans and Democrats, Tilley says his appointments are always about the person and not the party.
