Wrap: The Republican House Budget Chair said the total legislative package cuts 484 million dollars from the governor's budget recommendations.

But the budget relies on another 100 million dollars in spending reductions that require additional legislative action in the final two weeks of the session.

Included in those bills is a measure to take away two holidays for state government workers and cut back on pension benefits for new government employees.

The House Budget chair, St. Louis County Republican Allen Icet, said he expects those bills to pass.

Description: "I would think the governor would be certainly working with members of the House to ensure those bills pass."

But Democratic Representative Chris Kelly of Columbia said that's not the case.

Description: "He's certainly talked to legislators probably every now and then, and that was all performance art."

Kelly said he thinks the bills are likely to fail but he is still supporting the budget.
