Description: "There were about 4,900 votes separating Obama and McCain and we knew we had about 6,300 provisional ballots know under Missouri State law all of the ballots have to be reviewed to see if they can be counted or not so we had to wait to to look at each provisional ballot and know if that was going to affect the total."

Egerdal said the Secretary of State will announce Missouri's official presidential winner by the first week of December.

All the votes have been counted and Sen. John McCain has won the state of Missouri with .1 percent of the state's 2.9 million votes.

The vote still has to be certified by the Secretary of State's office by December 9.

Missouri remains the only state that has not chosen a winner for this years presidential election

The Director of Communications for the Secretary of States office Laura Egerdal said the delay is due to the verification process.

Description: "Normally things are not this close in election night so, it is pretty obvious what is going to happen, in Missouri it was close enough so we had to wait for the verification process, which we have to do every year, to make sure the provisional ballets weren't going to effect the outcome."

Egerdal explained because the election was so close the Secretary of State had to double check the results to verify their accuracy.
