The large-scale Canadian firm building the aircraft manufacturing plant would be forbidden to hire politicians and their family members.
Kansas City Democrat Victor Callahan used an analogy to explain the importance of his amendment, which banned even grandparents and granchildren from working at the plant.

Run Time: 00:17 |
Description: There's an old children's fable, Winnie the Pooh and the honey pot. And I just want to put a very big lock and chain around the honey pot, and I don't want to read about any conflicts that anybody in this building has. And I don't want to have somebody have their snout stuck in the honey pot. |
The amendment by Democratic Senator Victor Callahan would prohibit employers of the manufacturing plant to hire government officials and their family members.
Republican Senator Luanne Ridgeway says the amendment is an unnecessary piling on of the bill.

Run Time: 00:15 |
Description: Our Department of Corrections, for example, spends millions and millions of dollars every year. And yet, we're not concerned about who's the garbage contractor with them. We're not concerned about whether or not I have a brother, sister, an aunt, or an uncle that works for the Department of Corrections. |
