Intro: Missouri lawmakers had an opportunity to get close to the World Series trophy at the Capitol Thursday.  Micah Wiener has more from Jefferson City:

The trophy came to the state Capitol Thursday for the first time since the Cardinals closed out the title last October.

Cardinals President Mark Lamping carried the trophy into the Senate Chamber as Senators adopted a special resolution.

Senators took photos with the trophy after the session, and it remained on display in the Capitol rotunda the rest of the afternoon.

This is the third time the trophy has been in Jefferson City since the Series, but the first time it has been in the capitol building.

Intro: Missouri lawmakers had an opportunity to get close, but not too close, to the World Series trophy at the Capitol Thursday. Micah Wiener has more from Jefferson City:

The trophy came to the building for the first time since the Cardinals won Major League Baseball's championship last October.

The Missouri Senate passed a special resolution congratulating the Cardinals, as the team's President Mark Lamping, and Director of Government Affairs Ron Watermon, wathced on.

Verna Cooper oversees the trophy, and says the trophy is literally untouchable for everyone, including public officials.

Run Time: 00:12
Description: "We can say no to Senators, we have always said that our biggest security risk are four year olds, but today we ammended it, and our biggest security risk are four year olds and politicians."

This is the first time a World Series trophy has been in the Missouri Capitol since the Kansas City Royals defeated the Cards in the 1985 Series.
