Intro: After working on the Do-Not-Resuscitate bill for close to three years, the Missouri House moved up the bill closer to reality. Fanna (FAUNA) Haile-Selassie (high-LAY-suh-LA-say) was in the House chamber for the vote. RunTime:

After a House substitute amendment, the Do-Not-Resuscitate bill passed first-round approval.

It allows residents to decide whether they want doctors or paramedics to treat them if in serious physical harm.

Many supporting representatives, including the bill's sponsor, Jefferson City republican Mark Bruns, told examples they had experienced to show why this bill should be passed.

Description: For people who have made their wishes known before hand, it can be traumatic.  I think we are only of only 6 or 7 states that don't have this law.  I think it's right for Missouri.

The bill has to go through one more vote before it passes the House chamber and to goes to the Senate.
