Gundaker disagrees with Nixon

Intro: A real estate development company says that Attorney General Jay Nixon has his facts wrong. Nixon accused the company of hiring undocumented workers for its O'Fallon Lakes apartment project.

Beth Ford has more from Jefferson City.

Attorney General Jay Nixon plans to stop any further tax credits from going to the Gundaker Commercial Group for their St. Charles County project.

Gundaker bid for the project initially and lost, and maintain that they didn't have anything to do with hiring workers.

Attorney General office representative Scott Holste disagrees.

Gundaker Senior Vice President of Asset Management Greg Lee denies the charges and says that the company ensured all were eligible to work.

Attorney General Jay Nixon charges housing developer Gundaker Commercial Group for using undocumented workers on their O'Fallon Lakes project while receiving tax credits.

However, Mike Hajna, president and C.E.O. of Gundaker, says that the company received no money from the tax credits, and that the company had nothing to do with the hiring of undocumented workers.

  Hajna also says that one-hundred percent of the workers on the O'Fallon Project were local, not undocumented laborers.
