Despite the setback, Matt Blunt said he still was glad to see the proposal move on to the Senate floor.
The Governor said he approves of initial funds to the buildings and will push for them.

The education committee voted to move MoHELA to the Senate floor after removing funding for six research buildings that Republicans argued would support stem cell research.
Governor Matt Blunt said he still is pushing for funding to all of the buildings as in the initial MoHELA proposal, but he is glad to see proposal moving forward.

The 6 to 4 vote was straight down party lines, which had the Senate Democratic leader Maida Colemant calling the vote "Dirty politics".
