Democrat Representative Ed Wildberger is referring to the Anderson fire that killed eleven people last November.
His statement seemed to hit home for many representatives.
The Missouri House recently passed first-round approval for a bill that would require fire sprinklers and other fire safety precautions in long-term care facilities.
In the Senate, Pro Tem Michael Gibbons has a very similar bill that was recently passed out of the Senate and is now in the House for approval.

Five months after the Anderson fire, the Missouri House overwhelmingly supported regulating stricter fire safety requirements in long-term care facilities.
Not only is the bill in response to the Anderson fire that killed 11 people last November, but also the large fire that happened 50 years ago in Hillsboro, Missouri.
The sponsor of the bill, Republican representative Kevin Wilson, said that people's morals come to play when dealing disasters like these two fires.
