The Missouri House moved forward with a bill to fund some stem cell research today -- but the bill stops short of addressing controversial embryonic stem cell research.

The House voted to perfect the bill to fund adult stem cell research and umbilical cord blood banks.
The bill did not address embryonic stem cell research or cloning.
But debate between the bill's sponsor, Republican Jim Lembke and Republican Bob Johnson focused on the controversial topics.
The Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving cures is gathering signatures to put an an initiative to constitutionally protect embryonic stem cell research in Missouri on November's ballot.
