Governor Blunt is asking for money from the federal government to help ease the devastation caused by this weekends severe weather. Kathryn Buschman tells more about the governor's request.
Governor Blunt spoke with President Bush Tuesday asking for expedited federal financial assistance to help deal with damages caused by tornadoes over the weekend. Governor spokesman Spence Jackson says the governor's request will cut down on the time it normally takes to get federal relief funds.
Jackson says the amount of damage incurred over the weekend has yet to be determined.

Governor Blunt requested federal assistance from the president Tuesday to help deal with the damages from the weekend's severe weather. Kathryn Buschman has more from the state Capitol on how the money would be spent.
Gov. Blunt asked President Bush for expedited financial funds
for both individual and public assistance as a result of the weekend's tornadoes.
Federal money would grant low-interest loans to families and help county governments repair storm damaged roads and other public facilities.
Governor spokesperson Spence Jackson says the amount of damage will be difficult for the state to handle without federal assistance.
Jackson says there is not firm time table of when the governor would know if his request has been fulfilled.
