Over two-thousand names of murder victims lined the Capitol rotunda today. Meghan Kloth has more from Jefferson City.
The traveling memorial known as the "Murder Wall" lists names of children who are homicide victims. Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon spoke at the wall's arrival ceremony in Jefferson City.
"THe thousands of names on this wall are not abstract concept. Each name represents someone who was loved."
The wall was created in 1987 by the national organization of Parents of Murdered Children. At the ceremony, Nixon said the memorial shows the true impact of crime on society. From Jefferson City, I'm Meghan Kloth.

The "Murder Wall" lists the names of over two-thousand children who were victims of homicide. Nancy Long was instrumental in bringing the wall to Missouri.
"It's meant to create an awareness. We want to help others find out how long the road to justice is. We want people to known that murder can reach out and touch anyone."
Long's parents were victims of murder in 1996. Attorney General Jay Nixon also spoke at the ceremony, advocating rights for victim's families. From Jefferson City, I'm Meghan Kloth.

At a ceremony marking the arrival of the "Murder Wall," one woman made a plea for increased use of capital punishment. Meghan Kloth has more from Jefferson City.
The "Murder Wall" is a traveling memorial to homicide victims. Nancy Long's family has been affected by murder and she helped bring the wall to Missouri. At the ceremony, Nancy urged the Missouri Supreme Court to increase use of capital punishment.
"There are 7 inmates on death row who have exhausted all of their appeals. Yet their victims receive no justice because our highest judges have seemingly created their own moratorium on execution."
Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon also spoke at the ceremony and advocated more rights for victims' families. The "Murder Wall" will remain in the Capitol rotunda for several days. From Jefferson City, I'm Meghan Kloth
