The state commission in charge of reducing earthquake hazards has not met in over a year because they don't have enough members to meet.
Kathryn Buschman has more from Jefferson City.
The Missouri Seismic Safety Commission has not met since September 2004 because the governor has not replaced two members that resigned earlier this year.
Spokesperson for Governor Blunt's office, Jackie Robinson, says the commission is designed to give recommendations to improve earthquake emergency response.
" I think that given the fact that our country has recently faced terrible natural disasters something like a seismic safety commission that we know is something that faces or state is valuable to our state."
Robinson said that the governor is working to appoint new members but no timeline is in place.

The Missouri commission in charge of the state's earthquake readiness plans has not met since September 2004.
Kathryn Buschman has more from Jefferson City.
The Missouri Seismic Safety Commission has not met in over a year because they don't have the nine members needed to hold a meeting. Two of the members resigned earlier this year and have yet to be replaced by the governor.
Spokesperson for Governor Blunt, Jessica Robinson, said the governor is in the process of appointing new members.
"The governor is working to appoint members who originally resigned he has appointed three members to that group and also has asked our staff has asked the speaker and ProTem to also make appointments to this commission so that they can have an official meeting."
Robinson did not have an estimate on when those appointments would be made.
