There are now 1,200 more students in Missouri classrooms since the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Kristen Commander has more from Jefferson City.
In Columbia Public Schools forty-six new students have enrolled in classes. Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lynn Barnett says the school district is handling the extra students just fine.
Barnett says she doesn't know how long the new students will be staying in Columbia. She says Columbia schools are used to new students, so accomodating for the evacuees while they're here isn't a problem. Reporting from the state capital, I'm Kristen Commander.
